The Rasmus
The world learned about the Finnish musical collective The Rasmus in 2003. By that time the project had already existed for almost a decade, but one day the guys decided to go to the “dark side” and record a particularly dark and depressing album, which made them famous not only in their homeland, but also in Europe. Now the band, as before, is surrounded by fans, and its romantic lead singer, though no longer wearing bird feathers on his head, is still full of creative energy and youthful enthusiasm.
The history of The Rasmus dates back to the mid-90s – at the time when the soloists were still schoolchildren. Four friends – Lauri Julönen (frontman, vocalist), Jarno Lahti (drummer), Eero Heinonen (bassist) and Pauli Rantasalmi (guitarist) – united on the background of passionate love for Nirvana and Metallica music and decided to create their own team. At that time the performers were 13-15 years old.
The name for the band was chosen arbitrarily: Rasmus is a Swedish male name, which had no special meaning for the members, but just turned out to be moderately sounding and short. Before that, the bandmates rejected Sputnik, Trash-mosh and Anttila.
In 2022, the musicians continued to create. To the delight of fans, it became known that the team will take part in the national qualifying round for the Eurovision Song Contest.
