Biography

“Ace of Base” was a Swedish pop band consisting of Jonas Berggren, Ulf Ekberg, Lynn Berggren and Jenny Berggren. Like many other Swedish musicians, they performed their songs in English. The band’s album Happy Nation became the best-selling debut album in history.

The story of the band’s creation began with the acquaintance of young guys. The impetus to compose music for both of them was a gift from their parents – Junas was given a guitar for his 15th birthday, and Ulf, who had been re-educated and took up tennis, was given a computer.

Having become friends, the young Gothenburgers first wrote gloomy songs and sang as a duo, among the names of which was “Prospect Kalinin” – a probable allusion to a Moscow music project popular in the early 90s. The young people soon realized that adding female vocals and softening the style would make the songs more popular. For help, Jonas turned to his younger sisters, Lynn and Jenny.

In 2010, the new vocalists debuted, and the quartet’s name was changed to Ace.of.Base.
