Wiz Khalifa

Rap artist
Biography

Cameron Jibril Tomaz, better known by his alias Wiz Khalifa, is an American rapper. He released his debut album Show and Prove in 2006, and in 2007 signed to Warner Bros. Records. Became famous while still in high school, Wiz Khalifa was not distinguished by exemplary behavior. And although by 2017 the performer entered the top three rappers whose Youtube clip views exceed 1 billion, the man treats his own success with indifference.

In parallel with his studies, the young man spent a lot of time at the local recording studio “I.D. Labs”. In the same period Cameron took a pseudonym, choosing as a new name “Wiz Khalifa” (translated as “imparting wisdom”).

The unusual presentation of the text attracted the attention of hip-hop producers. The first to see the teenager as a future star was Benji Greenberg, the former assistant executive director of L.A. Reid. The man had just launched his own independent label and was looking for original performers.

Under the patronage of his new acquaintance Wiz Khalifa recorded several little-known singles, but popularity came to the rapper when the mixtape “Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania” went on sale. And the next step on the way to world fame was a solo album “Show and Prove”. The record quickly became a success and even received a mention in the famous music magazine “Rolling Stone”.
