Toni Braxton
Toni Michelle Braxton is an American rhythm and blues, pop and soul singer, songwriter and actress. She is known for such hits as “Un-Break My Heart”, “Breathe Again”, “Spanish Guitar”, “He Wasn’t Man Enough”. Winner of 7 Grammy Awards and other prestigious music awards. The hit “Un-Break My Heart” alone unequivocally elevated the singer to the rank of a global star, brought the first places in the charts and “Grammy”. Billboard called the song the most successful single in the history of its top 100.
The first success to the girls came in the last grades of school, when a fanatical father allowed some indulgences, and the group began to participate in competitions. Victories followed one after another. One day at a gas station, the sisters met Bill Pattaway, the same one who wrote the hit song “Girl You Know It`s True” for the pop duo Milli Vanilli. With his help, the group signed with Arista Records and released their first single.
A decisive role in Toni’s development as a singer was played by songwriters and producers Kenneth Brian Edmonds, nicknamed Babyface, and Antonio Reid, who wrote for Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Usher. The musicians liked the girl’s voice, velvety, almost masculine, with a low register, and Braxton was offered to start a solo career. With Babyface, Toni programmed success with the compositions “Give U My Heart” and “Love Shoulda Brought U Home”.
