Biography

The Black Eyed Peas are an American hip hop group consisting of rappers will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo and singer J. Rey Soul. The group originally worked in the genre of alternative hip-hop, later their sound changed to pop and dance-pop.

The Black Eyed Peas started out as an alternative hip-hop group, but later changed their style, favoring popular and dance music. They have existed since 1995, but only after 8 years they achieved real success and began to conquer the top of the world charts. Black Eyed Peas is a band with a complex history, which, despite the breaks, after 20 years is still going on.

A distinctive feature of the musicians were performances with live music, as opposed to the classic format of hip-hop and gangsta rap. Critics’ recognition came to the band in 1998, after the Black Eyed Peas, having signed a contract with Interscope Records, released their debut album Behind the Front. In the same year, singer Sierra Swan joined the musicians and worked with them until 2000. Many loved the band for the vocals of Fergie, who later became a permanent member of the Black Eyed Peas.

Now the place of the only woman in the group is occupied by singer J. Rey Soul, whose real name is Jessica Reynoso.
