Biography

Solana Imani Rowe, better known as SZA is an American soul singer-songwriter. SZA’s stage name is derived from the words “Sovereign Zig-Zag Allah” or “Savior Zig-Zag Allah”. A winner and nominee of several music awards, including 5 nominations for the 2018 Grammys. For SZA, in whose songs sincerity and commercial success happily coexist, creativity has become a healing channel through which she sends and absorbs love.

The musical phase in Solana’s biography began in 2012 when she self-released her debut EP titled See.SZA.Run. The record fell into the hands of producer Terrence Henderson. The latter was surprised by the quality of the budding singer’s sound and in October 2013 signed her to the Top Dawg label, where she became the first girl in the company of artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q.

In 2017, SZA unveiled her long-awaited full-length album CTRL to the public, which debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200. The record’s release was preceded by the single Drew Barrymore, and another single from the release, Love Galore, recorded with Travis Scott, earned platinum status. The singer then embarked on her first major North American tour, which lasted four months.

Time magazine named CTRL the album of the year, and the singer was nominated for five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.
