Biography

Scissor Sisters is an American pop band that attracted the public not only with its excellent dance hits, but also with its unusual lineup. The genres in which the project worked are difficult to classify: the compositions merge elements of glam rock, disco and alternative music. Now fans find the similarity of the team’s sound with the songs of ABBA, Bee Gees, Blondie and other legends of Western pop.

The history of the creation of the team began in 2000. The participants had already had experience of performing before they met each other. Mostly it was gay clubs in New York. Buddies Jake Shires (real name – Jason Szilards) and Babydaddy (Scott Hoffman) came to the metropolis, as the city gave more opportunities and freedom for representatives of non-traditional orientation.

The guys formed a creative tandem – the first wrote lyrics and the second composed music. They released a couple of singles and started to appear in closed themed clubs. At one of these performances, the young people met singer Ana Matronic (Ana Lynch), who impressed them with her “abnormality and recklessness”.

In 2003, Scissor Sisters released a new single Laura, for which they later shot two different music videos. And the composition It Can’t Come Quickly Enough was included in the soundtrack to the movie “Club Mania” with Macaulay Culkin. The song Take Your Mama also became popular with listeners. Having collected enough musical material, the performers pleased fans with the release of the debut full-length album, named in honor of the project.
