Biography

Nelly Kim Furtado is a Canadian singer, songwriter, music producer and actress. Her records and singles have sold over 40 million copies worldwide.

An important event that influenced the further musical career of the girl, occurred in 1997. She became a participant in a contest of female vocalists. Thanks to them, the girl made her first professional studio recording. Her producers were Gerald Eaton and Brian West. During two weeks of hard work in the studio, the trio showed that they worked well together and their cooperation could be very productive.

A year later the album “Whoa Nelly!” appeared. It absorbed all the experience of the young singer, all her musical hobbies. The music she grew up on, which her parents loved, as well as her early enthusiasm for hip-hop had a great influence on her creativity. One after the other, 2 singles for the album were released and music videos were shot. Both of them were more than successful and reached the top ten of the US charts. In the UK the album entered the Top 10, in Portugal and some European countries it was certified gold. The debut album also made a lot of noise in Canada, finishing at number two on the chart.
