Lil Wayne

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. better known as Lil Wayne is an American hip hop artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a key figure in southern hip-hop and one of the best-selling hip-hop artists in history. At the age of 9, he joined the Cash Money label.

Lil Wayne is arguably one of the most successful and popular rappers to ever hit the American scene. The biography of this man is a classic success story of a dark-skinned guy from a disadvantaged family, who against all odds “broke through” and proved to the world that he is talented and worthy of more.

Carter’s first independent creation is considered to be the album “The Block Is Hot”, although some of the songs from this record were also performed together with the group “Hot Boys”. The album surpassed the popularity of Wayne’s previous records, going platinum in its first week of sales. It also earned Carter a nomination for Best New Artist.
