Kanye West
Kanye West is an American rapper, music producer, songwriter, sound engineer, former billionaire and designer. Grew up in Chicago, where he was involved with music from a young age. Winner of 22 Grammy Awards. His recordings have a worldwide circulation of over 30 million copies. As a music producer he has collaborated with Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Nas, Janet Jackson, T.I. and others.
Rap music involves a narrative about the hardships that the performer had to face in life. Kanye had no experience with shootings or drug dealing. But a different tragedy happened at the time – in 2002, Kanye was in a car accident while returning home from the studio. He suffered multiple injuries and underwent surgery on his jaw. But even while in the hospital, the musician continued to work. The equipment was brought directly to his room.
In a special facial splint the musician wrote the song Through the Wire and two weeks later, still wearing a special medical mask, brought the composition to the final sound in the studio. Thanks to the disaster, the young man found the theme of the first album The College Dropout: making his own decisions.
The album was a huge success and debuted at number two on Billboard.
