Jessie J
Jessica Ellen Cornish, known as Jessie J, is a British singer and songwriter. After the bankruptcy of her label Gut Records early in her career, the singer had a long publishing contract with Sony/ATV Music, beginning to write songs for Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus and other artists.
During this period, she participated in American singer Cyndi Lauper’s concerts during her UK tour in support of the album “Bring Ya to the Brink”, plugging into a performance of the star’s song “Girls Just Want To Fun”. Soon she left the band “Soul Deep” in view of the obvious futility of this collective.
The next stage of Jessie’s creative path was a contract with Lava Records, managed by Universal Republic. One of the Sony/ATV agents helped to sign it by sending a link to the MySpace account of her talented mentee. As a result, at the end of 2010 she already presented the single “Do It Like a Dude”. It was a pop-rock song with R&B components, brought her great fame and reached the second position in the British chart.
