Jax Jones
Jax Jones, is an English DJ, songwriter, producer and remixer. He gained popularity in 2014, playing on Duke Dumont’s number one single “I Got U”.
Performing at open mic clubs across London, Jax eventually came alongside Ripperman, a grime producer from Mitcham at Raw Materials Studio Brixton , and worked on releases for Big Narstie and Roadside Gs, including on stage. His parents encouraged him to go to university at the age of 18.
Determined to stay closer to music, he turned down an interview at Oxford University to attend Brunel University in Uxbridge . Despite the two-hour commute, Jax went from lectures to the studio every day to work on his craft, regularly posting beats on Myspace . After graduating, Jax rented a studio in Sydenham after being prevented from moving back into the family home and honed his craft daily.
After meeting Duke Dumont, he became interested in house music, and together they wrote and produced “I Got U”, “Don’t Look Back” and “Ocean Drive”. Jones features on the single “I Got U “, the song reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in March 2014, leading to his breakthrough as an artist. On July 24, 2015, he released the single “Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah”. In July 2016, he released the single “House Work “.
