Gym Class Heroes
Gym Class Heroes is a band from Geneva, New York in the genre of alternative rap. The band originated when Travis “Schleprok” McCoy met drummer Matt McGinley, after which they decided to play together. The band was later joined by guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and bassist Eric Roberts. In 2007, the team conquered the “MTV” channel. They were nominated in the categories “Ultimate Urban”, “Breakthrough of the Year” and “Best Group”. In the Breakthrough of the Year category, the team won.
The band “Gym Class Heroes” was organized in 1997 in New York City. The main musical direction is hip-hop.
The creator of the team “Gym Class Heroes” can be called rapper Travis McCoy. He decided to create his own hip-hop project, which will stand out from the general mass of musicians of this direction. Travis picked up the composition of the group from his musician friends. Initially, the collective included such members as Travis McCoy, Matt McGinley, Disashi Lamamba-Kasongo and Rayyan Geisy.
The first concerts of the collective were held in local clubs and parties. Gradually, the talented guys began to gain popularity and fame. The first success of the team was a contract with the recording company “Decaydance Records”. The result of fruitful creativity was the album “As Cruel As School Children”. The main tracks are the songs “Cupid’s Chokehold” and “Clothes Off!!!”. They made the musicians overnight the favorite rappers of many American teenagers.
