GREEN DAY
Green Day is an American rock band formed in the East Bay in 1987 by vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong along with bassist and backing vocalist Mike Durnt. At first the team was not distinguished by an outstanding sound and unique image, but, being in the trend of the musical environment, managed to win fans. Together with other artists Green Day became bright representatives of punk music and attracted the interest of listeners from different parts of the world.
The success of the band did not come at once. The second record of the musicians saw the light in 1992. The album “Kerplunk” was extremely successful and attracted the attention of several recording studios. Green Day signed a contract with the Reprise label and in 2004 released the “Dookie” CD. It was supported by the MTV music channel, which played a key role in the band’s further development.
The song “Basket Case” exploded the American charts, sales of the record seriously increased, and radio and TV airing of other compositions only added to the team’s budget. Within a year, 5 million copies of the record were sold, and worldwide the volume exceeded 11 million. The musicians deservedly received the “Grammy” .
Having inspired several groups like “Fall Out Boy”, “My Chemical Romance”, “Good Charlotte”, Green Day became a symbol of punk music in the early 2000s. The musicians continue to work and are noted for their prolific output.
