Eric Prydz

DJ
Biography

Eric Prydz is a Swedish DJ and producer currently based in London.

Eric Prydz became interested in music as a child when he was learning to play the piano. At one time the boy persuaded his parents to buy him a synthesizer to learn how to create his own music in the style of Depeche Mode – so began his musical quest. In 1994 Eric Prydz became a drummer in an electropop band, and later quit his job and together with two of his friends, who had a small studio, began to create music, working part-time as a DJ in clubs. Gradually Eric Prydz became very interested in DJing, and soon a cassette of his work was released on the EMI label.

Thus began the DJ career of Eric Prydz.

Eric Prydz achieved worldwide fame in 2004 with the hit Call On Me. The track is based on Steve Winwood’s 1987 hit Valerie. Having received a new breath, the song shook all the world’s dance floors and charts. Successful sales of the single were helped by a catchy and not entirely obscene video showing a fitness workout, which British Prime Minister Tony Blair himself called obscene.
