The band members met in 2008 when they were all studying at Jesus College at Cambridge University. The name of the band Clean Bandit comes from a Russian phrase and means something like “incorrigible scoundrel”. In December 2012, the band released their first single titled “A + E”, which reached number 100 on the UK charts. The single was also the first release of their debut album New Eyes. With this album, Clean Bandit achieved their first notable success and managed to reach the 3rd position in the British charts.
