A Fine Frenzy
Alison Lauren Sudol, known as A Fine Frenzy is an American alternative singer, composer and pianist. Her debut album One Cell in the Sea was released in 2007, followed by her second studio album Bomb in a Birdcage in 2009.
In addition to music, Alison had a passion for literature, reading works by writers such as Clive Lewis, Alvin White, Lewis Carroll, Charles Dickens and Anthony Trollope. She even considered becoming a professional writer, and had already had literary sketches for a children’s book in the adventure style.
Her stage name, “A Fine Frenzy” is a phrase taken from Shakespeare’s play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Theseus, Act 5, Scene 1: “The poet’s eye, in a fine frenzy rolling, doth glance from heaven to earth, from earth to heaven”). After learning to play the piano on her own, she began to try her hand at songwriting.
In 2007 her first album “One Cell in the Sea” was released, which was evaluated by critics mostly in a positive way. The first lyric single from it, titled “Almost Lover”, reached number 25 on Billboard’s Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart. In spring 2008, Alison performed concerts in support of her debut album in America, Canada, France, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland.
