Tarkan
Tarkan is a Turkish singer, singer-songwriter and producer. In Turkey, he is known as the “Prince of Pop”. He has released several platinum albums, selling about 19 million copies. He is the owner of the music company “HITT Music”, established in 1997.
Without false modesty Tarkan declared that he was born for fame. And it favored the prince of Turkish pop music. The singer gained popularity and recognition in Europe, without performing a single composition in English, the public had enough of their incendiary and sexuality of the artist himself. In Russia, “shikidim” sounded from every window, and not only admiring girls, but also respectable men came to the concerts.
Tarkan’s career took a leap when during his next visit to Germany he met Mehmet Soyutolu, the director of İstanbul Plak label. The latter offered to produce the debut album of the novice singer, and in 1992 Yine Sensiz was released, followed a couple of years later by Aacayipsin.
Composer Ozan Çolakolu and author and producer Sezen Aksu provided the artist with a win-win combination of Western sound and Eastern exoticism. Tarkan, a collection of Turkish-language songs, won the singer an award at the World Music Awards. The single Bu Gece was planned as part of the album Ölürüm Sana, which became the most commercially successful album in Russia, Turkey and CIS countries, gold in Europe and platinum in Mexico.
Karma, released in 2001, sold 1 million copies in Europe.
