Chris Norman & Band
Singer Chris Norman rose to fame in the 70s as a member of the musical group “Smokie”. After a decade-long career, the vocalist began to perform as a solo artist. To this day, the songs “What Can I Do”, “Living Next Door To Alice”, “I’ll Meet You At Midnig” and “Stumblin’In”, recorded as a duet with Susie Quatro, are popular with both the great-aged audience and young people.
“Smokie” Chris Norman’s band began to be named only in 1974. According to the musicians, this name was chosen by them because of the hoarse, as if smoky voice of their vocalist. On stage, the guys often performed in snow-white shirts with ruffles or elegant suits.
The band made their first demo recordings in 1968, and although they were received by the public without much enthusiasm, “Smokie” continued to work hard on the quality of performance and lyrics. The band gained popularity after appearing on numerous radio shows.
Smokie songs quickly became popular not only in their native England, but also in the United States and Europe. At that time, every tenth song of the group became an international hit, and the tour of the performers was successfully held throughout Europe and Australia.
